The Poetry of Architecture

The Poetry of Architecture

Or, the Architecture of the Nations of Europe Considered in its Association with Natural Scenery and National Character

Description of the book

'The Poetry of Architecture' is a collection of essays written by John Ruskin. He is mostly remembered today for being an art critic who emphasized the connections between nature, art and society. This book also follows similar themes: It is a study of cottages, villas, and other dwellings centered on a Wordsworthian argument that buildings should be sympathetic to their immediate environment and use local materials. It anticipated key themes in his later writings.
