Thomas Huxley, the author of this work, an English biologist and anthropologist specializing in comparative anatomy, has become known as "Darwin's Bulldog" for his advocacy of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Huxley preferred to handle his discussions on Darwin's theory and report the results of his research in the form of letters.
