England's Antiphon

England's Antiphon

Description of the book

The author of this book endeavors to trace the course of religious poetry from an early period of literary history. In order to do so, some of the principal phases of the religious history of the nation are referenced. A full history of the religious feeling of a single county would require a large book, and a thorough acquaintance with the hymns of the country, which is not considered of sufficient importance from a literary point of view to be included in the scope of the volume. Some of the individuals discussed include John Milton, Henry More, Richard Baxter, and Francis Bacon.
