What others think

Reviews of A Darkness at Sethanon

Very good narration but some of the pronounciation of the names - especially the more French ones, was terrible. I also failed to understand how the "th" in Arutha becomes a "t". Very odd, especially as Feist made a complete phonetic dictionary which seems to have been ignored- which is a shame bbecause otherwise the characters and voices were excellent. From a pure story poo t of view, this is one of the all time fantasy classics. If you don't know the story, start at the beginning with "Magician". It is well worth the time spent reading or listening.

Great book

I loved Magician, but in the last book of the set it felt like the author had completely run out of ideas for a plot. Random happenings and implausible creatures are shoehorned into a stream of tenuously linked encounters. There are some smooth sections which were enjoyable, but I found myself wishing many passages were just over. A pity, after such a strong start to the series. If only they'd stopped there, or moved straight on to the far stronger Daughter of the Empire.
